Project 11: Bibliography This project on annotated bibliography was closed in 1979 with the publication of a bibliography, see the end of this file. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Oxford 1975: ============ The Chairman stressed the need for some form of annotated bibliography and wondered whether the Group could work in conjunction with Signum. Dr Lawson agreed to explore the possibilities. Dr Einarsson elaborated on the Swedish project, which is computer based. He agreed to accept responsibility for this area of the Group's interest, subject to overcoming funding and secretarial difficulties. Oak Brook 1976: =============== Dr. Einarsson's Bibliography on Numerical Software was discussed. One-hundred copies had been produced and distributed. Dr. Pool expressed the Group's appreciation of the effort which has been involved. The next stage might be to request further input from Working Group members and attendees at the Portability Workshop. A common agreed format for all entrees was also required. It was pointed out that ideally the bibliography should be machine based and it was agreed that either the Harwell or Argonne bibliographic system could be used to produce a later version. Professor Hull inquired about the possibility of marketing an updated edition. It was thought likely that suitable outlets could be found. Amsterdam 1977: =============== Dr Einarsson reported that the 3rd version (reference 1 below) had been printed in a run of 200 copies as a Berkeley Report (sponsored by the US Navy). The software aids section had been removed. Chapter 16 was to be submitted for publication (reference 2 below) and comments would be welcome. Copies of the document would be available (in limited numbers) from Sweden. There were no current plans for further developments. Professor Yanenko asked whether analytical methods were included and whether interval analysis was included. It was decided that these subjects should be deferred to a future edition. The thanks of the group were expressed to Dr Einarsson (proposed Dr Brown, seconded Professor Hull). Documents: ========== 1. B.
